A review of Sebeya Catchment restoration, highlighting lateral dykes, erosion control, and sustainable water engineering in Rwanda.                                 The Sebeya Catchment is one of Rwanda’s most environmentally sensitive and highly monitored river basins due to its long-standing vulnerability to flooding and severe soil erosion. Located within the Congo Basin and covering an estimated area of over 363 km² , the catchment spans 21 sectors across Rubavu, Rutsiro, Ngororero, and Nyabihu districts . Its steep mountainous terrain combined with high annual rainfall creates ideal conditions for accelerated runoff, sediment transport, and destructive floods.
